GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Performs routine clerical work involving the keeping of financial records and accounts for the transportation office; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES

Under direct supervision, this is routine clerical work involving the exercise of a working knowledge of account-keeping procedures, there is some independent responsibility for accurate performance of assigned tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training and Experience



1. Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by a course in bookkeeping or accounting;

or

2. Graduation from high school and one year of office clerical experience which involved working with financial accounts and records.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma and either:

A) one year of bookkeeping, financial record keeping or as a bank teller either in an automated environment or supplemented by work experience using automated equipment; or

B) Satisfactory completion of 30 credits at a recognized college or university (or satisfactory completion of one year at a recognized post high school business school) including course work in bookkeeping, accounting, or mathematics may be substituted for the above required experience.

Paralegal

The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has openings for paralegals throughout its Trial and Investigation Divisions. Paralegals provide a full-range of support to the Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) in the prosecution of crime in Manhattan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist ADAs in all aspects of investigations and trials.
- Communicate effectively with all staff, both orally and in writing.
- Compile and analyze case documents for hearings and trials.
- Coordinate case schedules with courts, law enforcement officials, witnesses, and defense attorneys.
- Draft correspondence and legal documents.
- Assist ADAs in the redaction and preparation of documents for e-discovery.
- Assist ADAs with proofreading, cite checking, and locating files and documents.
- Prepare court calendars.
- Testify before the Grand Jury, at trial and other judicial proceedings.
- Perform related administrative and clerical tasks.
