The Center for Youth is a youth services agency established in 1971 to provide alternative and responsive services and programs to youth and families. For more than 45 years, The Center has remained dedicated to its founding philosophy and guiding principles of youth development. With a budget of over $7 million and a staff of over 200 employees, The Center plays a significant role in the delivery of services to youth and their families in the City of Rochester and throughout Monroe County. As such, the Director of Finance is the chief fiscal planning officer and holds a great deal of responsibility for the financial health and efficacy of the agency. With expected continual growth, a strong strategic approach to all fiscal matters is essential.
The Director of Finance is the Chief Financial Officer at The Center for Youth and is responsible for the oversight and supervision of all the financial and fiscal operations at The Center. The Director takes the lead responsibility for budget projection, development and management and provides oversight and supervision for the agency's financial management operations, procedures and controls and works closely with the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. This position is responsible for the oversight of transmission and reconciliation of employee payroll, required payroll reporting to outside agencies, and yearly audits. S/he ensures the effective management of cash flow. This position is a member of the senior Management Team and is involved with agency policies and procedures that impact the revenue and fiscal health of the organization. This position provides leadership in the planning of new initiatives and the maintenance of current functions. S/he also assumes all of these responsibilities for CYS Properties, Inc. a subsidiary of The Center for Youth Services, Inc. This position is supervised by the Executive Director.
Demonstrated understanding of not-for-profits and grant related operations. Knowledge and demonstrated competencies in financial management and accounting policies and procedures. Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities. Proven project management skills. Problem identification and corrective action skills and experiences. Ability to negotiate and develop performance based contracts. Conflict prevention and resolution skills. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven experience working with governing bodies and management teams. Knowledge and competencies in the design, development, implementation and assessment of service delivery programs, organizational structures and operations and the essential policies and procedures to ensure quality and efficiency. Proven experience in working with databases, conducting statistical analysis and in generating resulting reports. Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities within given time-lines. Must have access to a vehicle and telephone and possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier. In addition, must have the following automobile insurance: $100,000 per person/$300,000 per incident Bodily Injury and $50,000 Property Damage.
MBA or MPA preferred, with a strong emphasis in Accounting and Finance. Requires 8 years related experience in a position with comparable administrative duties, including experience in strategic financial planning, government grants and a proactive review of the agency fiscal strength.
$63,500-$70,000 depending on education and experience
