The Middle Country Central School District is seeking a full-time Assistant Superintendent for Business to administer the business and operational affairs of the district in such a way as to provide the best possible educational programs, materials and services within the financial sources available. The Assistant Superintendent for Business will play a key role in school district planning and analysis of current programs, support systems, expenditures, as well as managing all bond and capital projects. Candidates should possess the following: strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels; excellent leadership skills; and knowledge of School law as it relates to the Business Office.

Responsibilities will include:
• Administering and enforcing the provisions and regulations of state and federal laws, the Commissioner of Education and the Board of Education; establishing procedures for maintaining all records that are required by law and policy
• Assisting the Superintendent in long-range budget development and directing the process of school funds to ensure that the district derives maximum benefits for the prudent expenditure of school dollars
• Assisting the Superintendent and playing an active role in identifying additional sources of funding for the district
• Developing the annual budget, supervising the accounting of all income and expenditures, and assuming responsibility for the receipt and expenditure of school district funds
• Managing all bond and capital projects
• Responsible for the completion of monthly and annual financial reports and other statistical reports
• Supervising the district's support services through the supervisors of transportation, food services and facilities
• Manages the Business Office – accounting, purchasing and payroll. Establishes procedures resulting in the effective operation of the Business Office
• Administering the bidding and quotation program of the district
• Planning, developing, and coordinating functions of all the District's operations efforts
• Developing and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures of the district
• Managing the district's construction, insurance, and energy programs
• Assisting in contract negotiations
• Coordinating district operations with other educational and municipal agencies
• Overseeing and implementing professional development, supervision, and evaluation program for operations department staff
• Creating and supporting a district office environment dedicated to continuous improvement
• Fostering positive relations with all stakeholders through communication and customer service

Interested candidates must possess

New York State School District Leader Certification/New York State School District Administrator, and/or New York State School District Business Leader Certification or SBA; and five or more years as a Chief Business Official with a record of effectively managing a multi-million dollar budget.
