Summary of Qualifications
Design & Drafting
• Perform technical architectural work in the design and development of plans for alterations and repairs to buildings.
• Responsible for designing, planning, and drafting detailed specifications for alterations and repair projects to existing or new building construction projects. Work involves contacts with personnel, material and equipment vendors.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Discuss requirements of alterations and repairs to be made with appropriate superiors and, officials; conduct surveys to gather data needed in design preparation.
• Prepare preliminary design sketches for the larger and more complex projects, including cost estimates.
• Following project approval, prepare final designs, including required drafting and specifications.
• Perform drawing and drafting work required for each project using AUTOCAD.
• Refer completed designs and specifications to superiors for review, alterations, and approval.
• Perform related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Considerable knowledge of the basic principles of architecture
• Considerable knowledge of modern building construction methods and materials and of the preparation of specifications
• Considerable knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of architectural drafting
• Some knowledge of the principles and methods of surveying and inspecting sites and buildings, preparatory to planning and designing
• Ability to prepare architectural designs, plans, and specifications, using AUTOCAD
• Ability to prepare complex schematic drawings from rough sketches and oral instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Skill in designing alterations to buildings and structures and in preparing accurate drawings and specifications
• Lift plans, elevations, sections and details for architectural, piping & mechanical as-built drawings.
• Develop working drawings in architecture, civil, mechanical (piping) & structural.
• Develop Process Diagrams (Flow, Process & Instrumentation).
• Advanced experience with AutoCAD (R13 through 2010).
• Experience with MicroStation
Estimating
Bid Administration
• Prepare and maintain status of plan reproduction
• Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors
• Prepare subcontractor bid packages
• Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors
• Ensure to have proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day
• Contact supply houses to obtain additional subcontractor bids
• Creative and resourceful in order to gain better pricing from subcontractors
• Submit 100% of bids and budgets by bid deadline – no exceptions
• Enter all relevant information into Estimating Software (The Edge, Quest, ProEst, OST or Microsoft Office applications)

Project Knowledge
• Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up question on every bid
• Thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned
• Develop RFI's and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage and show interest
• Perform comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades
• Understand how to fit subs to the size/scope of project
• Create bid lists that fit scope of job, ensuring that we have the right subs for the project
• Minimize exclusions by “doing homework”
• Include value-engineering ideas on every bid
Follow up & closing
• Consistently follow up on submitted bids and budgets with Architect and/or Construction Manager to close business
• Able to get to know architects, construction managers, property managers, brokers and close business
Project turnover
• Properly turn over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in a timely manner
• Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern
• Review job cost with Project Management team and highlight any subs/material vendors that still need to be awarded
• Complete project kick-off form to ensure compliance
