Projects:
Waterford-3 Reloads – Lead Core Designer
The Lead Core Designer has responsibility for developing fuel management and core loading patterns to meet customer requirements. This includes assessing risk to fuel integrity and safety margin management, performing core physics analyses and interfacing with other functional groups (such as Thermal Hydraulics, Fuel Rod Design and Safety Analysis). Also included providing plant operations data needed for startup physics testing and core monitoring. The Lead Core Designer is the main point of contact for technical issues.
Interface with Columbia Manufacturing Plant – Validated Bill of Materials for fuel construction; improved process for design-to-manufacture interface reducing potential errors and schedule problems.
Calvert Cliffs Units 1 and 2, Ginna, ANO-2 – Support peers with design and safety analysis calculations.
Core Design Training Team – Improved qualification process, developed and delivered training materials, and served on qualification boards.
New Hire Mentoring Program – Guided new engineers in the qualification process.
Waterford-3 Redesigns – Redesigned fuel management plan, developed plan for completing all necessary calculations by the revised deadline. Authored safety analysis assessment validating the design after a 2nd redesign was necessary.
Special Projects – assisted in Nuclear Design code improvements.
