Turkey Point Power Plant: Temporary assignment through Talascend as a design engineer for evaluation of existing structural turbine building steel floor beams for updated loads from piping. Evaluation of existing Concrete Masonry walls for tornado generated missiles and tornado generated wind loads for an existing structure which is upgraded to a Class 1 structure.

04/10 TO 01/11: Bechtel Power Corporation. Frederick, MD

St Lucie Power Plant: Temporary assignment through Talascend as a design engineer for evaluation of existing structural steel floor beams and columns of the turbine building. Evaluated temporary construction loading and new loads from relocated equipment and piping for the Florida Power & Light Hutchinson Plant Power Uprate Project. Evaluation of temporary rigging for construction installation of equipment. Review of vendors’ calculations for new equipment, support racks and temporary buildings. Primary duties consisted of structural re-evaluation of existing structural systems using the original codes of record for the plant and current building codes for new or temporary work. Structural analysis was done using STAAD and MathCAD computer programs.

Shallow and deep foundation designs: mat foundations and pile foundation design. Primary duties are structural design in steel and concrete using the IBC code. 4/2006- 4/30/07 Temporary assignment through EPC Global for the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station Unit 1 Steam Generator Replacement Project. Design of shallow mat foundations for the construction of the temporary lift system (movable crane on rails and its supporting structures) for the replacement of 4 steam generators. Review of existing containment polar crane capacity for the new lift loads that were above the rated lifting capacity of the crane. Design of temporary 32” diameter main steam pipe supports on the existing piping to facilitate the removal and replacement of steam generators: includes main steam pipe fixed supports, springs and temporary pipe support construction to permit safe removal of the existing steam generators. Evaluation of existing steel embedment anchorages for the new steam generators for increased design loads. Qualify and re-evaluate the structural internal structural concrete walls and slabs for the reaction loads (embedment anchorage) from the new steam generators. Revise the client’s original calculations to qualify the adequacy of the new steam generator embedment anchorages for the revised thermal, Seismic and LOCA loads.
