LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY, Ruston, LA Sept 2009 – Nov 2011
A Biomedical Engineering School ranked as one of the top nanotech schools in the USA
Graduate Student/Research Assistant www.latech.edu
• Primary focus of research was on Brain Computer Interface (BCI), specifically the signal processing of EEG signals for control over prosthetic hand.
• Maintained, repaired, replaced, soldered and tested electrodes of the 128 electrode EEG Sensor Net.
• Created algorithms and analyzed data using Matlab, LabVIEW, EEGLAB and Independent Component Analysis (ICA).
• Use signal processing algorithms such as anti-alias filtering, fixed/floating points, FIR, IIR, over and sub-sampling, and Stochastic models to reduce data and isolate the relevant signal components for classification of control signals for a prosthetic hand.
• Adapted existing 3D modeling software to map the activation concentrations of EEG signals to correspond to the physical movement of the subject.
• Designed and setup experimental protocols, created timelines, testing procedures, collected data, ran engineering statistical analysis, provided extensive scientific literature review including reading, analysis and interpretation of scientific and technical journals, wrote technical documents and presented research to academic faculty and peers.
• Managed own time and accomplished all research goals on schedule and dealt constructively with mistakes and setbacks.
• Wrote, designed and submitted research proposals for Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the National Institute of Health (NIH) and ensured compliance to all regulations.
• Generated Engineering Reports, presentations, created and interpreted 2-D and 3-D drawings to communicate results, hurdles and design solutions to my advisor and colleagues.
• Applied Mechanical Engineering principles to help colleagues develop, design, and test a manufacturable low cost prosthetic hand prototype.
Teaching Assistant
• Ran, setup experiments and guided students through two Chemistry labs per week.
• Supervised student lab experiments, conducted lab safety training, lab practices and lectured on lab topics.
• Conducted several lectures for the professor.
• Graded lab, reports, quizzes and tests.
• Weekly meeting with lab teaching assistants and faculty.
Teaching Assistant (2 Academic years)
• Conduct chemistry laboratory course instruction, supervised student lab experiments, and lectured on lab topics.
• Experience in analytical instruments such as HPLC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, GC and dissolution tester, melting point apparatus, viscometer, Karl Fischer titrator, pH meter, analytical balance, precision pipettes, volumetric glassware, microscopes, precision mass balances, mixers, YSI and troubleshooting routine technical problems associated with equipment.
• Extensive reagent solution preparation benc...
