SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
Sept 2011 – Aug 2012 Senior Staff Engineer for Experience Prototyping Motorola Mobility, Chicago, IL
An Experience Engineer within Motorola’s Consumer Experience Design team with focus on providing solutions to bridge the gap between design and implementation. Provided rapid development of working prototypes and differentiating experiences that expanded the limits of design and the Android platform. Delivered understandable and reusable code with the purpose of sharing knowledge. Continuously researched latest trends in technology and UI design to further the technical skills of the design studio and software teams through direct collaboration, tutorials, and sample applications. Received Bravo Award for performance above and beyond position requirements.

Key Projects
• Development of a production library for custom themes and styles.
Implemented a custom theme library to be used at the application-level to comply with Google’s effort to defragment the Android OS ecosystem. The library provided a thorough implementation of custom styles for all Android elements for API level 14 and above.
• Development of working applications to illustrate delta between Android API levels.
ActionBar API: Implemented an application to illustrate the capabilities of the ActionBar API for smaller screen densities provided in ICS. The application demonstrated best practices as well as the ability to build a custom ActionBar within suggested design pattern guidelines.
• Implemented tools to demonstrate limitations of hardware design.
Haptics: Quantified the delta between haptic hardware and drivers by implementing an .apk utilizing the device accelerometer to illustrate the forces (along the x, y, and z axis) during a controlled haptic event.
Sensor/Power Management: Developed an .apk in attempt to illustrate the optimal trade-off between sensor usage and power consumption. The application allowed users to adjust the frequency of polling of each sensor to gain the desired functionality, as well as monitor power consumption in effort to provide the proper balance between sensor awareness and battery longevity.
• Development of demo applications controlled remotely from a second device.
Implemented to demonstrate/test new user experiences in user research trials. The application allowed research team to demonstrate new experiences on a device which is controlled remotely from a second device through Bluetooth communication.
• Development of working prototypes for the exploration of new user experiences.
Dynamically Resizable Layouts: Developed a prototype that allowed the user to dynamically resize individual views of a multiple view layout. The implementation provided the user with a simple drag and drop interface that allowed the resizing of individual windows within a layout.
ZoomableGridView: Implemented an image gallery that allowed users to zoom in on an individual image providing an intermediate gallery state before entering a detail-view.

Other Responsibilities
• Provided framework expertise to assist in design and development of
production applications
• Provided research and documentation for new mobile technologies
(NFC, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth Low Energy)
