Accomplishments:

While at Virginia Natural Gas, I have learned a great deal about natural gas infrastructure, project management, attention to detail, and how to thrive and succeed as professional employee. I currently manage a high profile pipeline renewal project to insure contract scope completion and approve of contractor invoicing. In addition, I have overseen all critical aspects of New Business installation projects to margin expectations. Working as a project coordinator, I am also responsible for inspecting and coordinating contractor installation of gas pipeline to strict engineering standards. This has taught me a great deal about job site management, motivating contractors, and customer relations.

Core responsibilities:

• Implement company construction program, coordinate natural gas pipeline infrastructure projects, inspect company contractor work for safety, quality, and compliance.
• Oversee and monitor projects from initiation through installation, provide progress reports to relevant departments, field records and guidance to contractors as needed.
• Recognize obstacles/issues that put project safety/cost effectiveness at risk
• Perform inspections and audits to ensure job safety, contractor work quality and compliance to company Construction Maintenance Manual.
• Communicate with external project parties (i.e. homeowners, business owners, permitting jurisdictions, etc) to resolve complaints and or concerns.
• Suggest field design changes to keep construction projects on schedule and at or below budget.
• Maintain working knowledge of relevent technologies and best practices. Ensure engineering standards, methods, and practices are in regulatory compliance.
• Under senior supervision, provide on-call supervisor support to service center (i.e. after standard hours, weekends, on a weekly rotational basis) related to gas emergencies, leaks, concerns, etc.
• Review and invoice contractor as-builts and pay items.

Offshore Regulatory Programs, Engineering and Research Branch

Accomplishments:

Working at MMS as a Summer intern gave me the opportunity to grasp in the ins and outs of working in a professional business environment. I gained valuable knowledge of upholding company values while working as a team, and accomplishing goals on a deadline. While working as an intern, I was given the challenge of inserting fresh ideas into established company systems and offering suggestions for improvement.

• Create technical documents (i.e. Metocean data used for planning the structural design of alternative energy wind farms.)
• Research technical issues related to offshore structures with respect to inspection, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Review and make recommendations on technical and budgetary White Papers and proposals for the Technology Assessment and Research (TA&R) program.
• Gather Regional Contingency Plans for the 13 Regional Response Teams with respect to clean up of oil spills, mainly pertaining to the use of In-Situ Burn and dispersant clean up techniques.
• Determine knowledge gaps and areas where research should be done on the Technology Assessment and Research (TA&R) web page.
• Assisted in revising Federal Register Regulations for alternative energy facilities in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
• Provide advice and leadership to fellow employees (i.e. on various technical reports and computer programs)
