NGC Aerospace Research Labs, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems 2007-Present
• Project manager for internal research and development (IRAD) project in
the following areas:
o Graphene and graphite based materials for transparent conducting windows
and microelectronic applications
o Carbon Nanotubes for thermal management applications
o Thermoelectric materials for waste heat recovery and cooling
applications
o Manipulation of thermoset epoxy resin systems for the dispersion of
nano-fillers
• Awarded and was PI for a $400K seedling contract from DARPA/DSO for
development of graphene based transparent conductors
• Two patent applications, one patent awarded for graphene based material
processes
• Built a new chemical laboratory facility at Northrop Grumman. This work
included experience in costing, equipment purchase, permitting and
design/renovation of the facility.

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, UCLA 2002- 2007
• Intercalation and exfoliation of graphite for use in carbon-carbon epoxy
composites for aerospace applications
• Fabrication of graphite/thermoset-epoxy composites with improved
mechanical and electrical properties
• Testing of graphite-epoxy composites through the use of micro-tensile
and 3-point bend flexural testing
• Synthesis of Bismuth Selenide/poly(methyl-methacrylate) composites
demonstrating improved electrical conductivity
• Organic synthesis experience manipulating epoxy resin system precursor
molecules
• Synthesis of graphite oxide as a precursor to achieving individual
graphene platelets
• Created a spray deposition technique for depositing graphite oxide onto
SiO2 substrates followed by hydrazine vapor reduction as an alternative
route to achieving single layer graphene for nanoelectronic applications
and testing
• Applied physics experience including electrical measurement and device
fabrication of FET devices using single and few-layer graphene (FLG)
• Extensive materials characterization and microscopy experience
including: XRD, TGA, DSC, DMA, TMA, HPLC, TEM, SEM along with EDS
(EDAX), AFM,
FTIR, cryogenic distillation, machining, composite mold design,
composite fabrication, glass blowing and repair
• On-going collaborations with the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
departments at UCLA
