Job Title:
Sr. Process Development Engineer
•Work with multiple process areas (melting, extrusion, and fabrication) to analyze product, process, or material failures within exotic alloys group (zirconium, titanium, Ni-Ti, hafnium, and, Nb-Ti).
•Reduce process costs by identifying materials and process problems and implementing cost effective solutions for established and new products.
•Perform failure analysis on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, plastics, and ceramics for internal and external customers.
•Evaluate microstructures of alloys to determine proper heat treatment and mechanical processing.
•Perform materials and defect analysis using scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), mechanical testing, and optical microscopy for internal and external customers.
•Manage scanning electron microscope laboratory and work with JEOL and Oxford Instruments on yearly maintenance contracts, routine and emergency service.
•Produced electro-polished zirconium, titanium, and hafnium using a non-perchloric acid containing electrolyte to obtain 90-95% indexing of EBSD patterns on low symmetry materials.
•Create a Zr-Nb grain size measurement program using image analysis software to replicate a customer’s manual measurement method using only 10% of the time required by the previous image analysis method.
•Work with the quality organization and process engineers to resolve non-conforming product issues and PCIR’s and produce technical reports of my findings.
•Familiarity with hot and cold rolling of sheet, extrusion of pierced billets, rocking of seamless tubes (TREX), VAR melting, reduction and distillation of sponge, ingot chemistry using ion coupled plasma and inert gas fusion, ultrasonic testing , forging of billets and slab, and continuous and vacuum annealing.
•Participate in safety improvement through interaction with floor personnel, Kaizan events, and safe card observations.
•Government security clearance

Job Title: Sr. Advisory Engineer / Sr. Process Engineer
•Manage group yield improvement projects, gathering and analyzing data, coordinating with customers in wafer and machining groups to improve rolled throughput yields from 35% to 60+%.
•Coordinate with internal customers gathering and disseminating information to minimize R&D build errors.
•Prepare and present weekly reports using oracle SQL queries, Excel graphs, Powerpoint presentations and Word documents to director level management and internal customers.
•Perform daily troubleshooting on low yield lots and test/measurement equipment problems.
•Perform failure analysis using analytical tools such as SEM & EDS as well as Minitab and JMP.
•Advise on the application of new materials and process methods to further yield improvement. Define equipment specs, create and maintain process test documents for system operation, calibration, SPC, & gage studies as well as training of operators and techs.
•Worked with machining group to reduce chipping and improve surface finish
•Managed CD measurement system improvement project. Maintained gage capability of critical dimension measurement systems while improving capability by 20 to 30% as CD value was reduced from 1.1um to 0.5um. Perform Gage R&R as well as SPC. Generate and maintain calibration stds.
•Establish and maintain ESD protection of product within process areas inside the clean room.
•Improve tooling designs using Autocad 2000 software to increase throughput and reliability.
•Worked with suppliers to integrate new materials, technology, and equipment into the manufacturing process
