—Assisted operations manager with the set-up and management of a new manufacturing facility, which builds an innovative version of trailers for customs port use.
• Plant Layout Design and Machine Selection: Participated in the design, layout, and project oversight of a manufacturing facility set up & management; selection of machining equipment (plasma cutting machines, bending machines, welding machines, etc.); established material handling principles, performed evacuation and egress studies.
• Production/Sourcing Planner: Assisted in the coordination and management of production & and its supporting departments (Purchasing & Logistics, Engineering, Inventory, and QC); Analyzed MRP (Vantage, Epicor Software) to schedule all parts under control, track production progress and inventory level, maintain the ERP system; 5S and Kanban system application for the manufacturing facility; led the mapping of work process for each operations department.
• Paint System Design: Together with the equipment contractor, performed conceptual and mechanical design of the paint line. The system applies power and free conveyor system, incorporating stations of Sand Blasting, Degreasing & Silane Treatment, E-Coating, Electric Powder Spraying, as well as Convection Ovens. Performed detailed design, sizing, lay-out of all equipment, pipes, valves, and electric control system. Supervised the installation/testing/production of the production line, studied and selected consumables for the whole system.
• Compressed Air System/Waste Water Treatment System: Studied and selected the major components for an industrial compressed air system: Compressor, Dryer, Filter, and Receivers; Designed the air distribution system; Coordinated with equipment contractor for both conceptual and mechanical design of an onsite waste water treatment system meeting the requirements of EPA.
• Project Management of Trailer Frame Fabrication Subcontract: As the team leader, supervised the Tianjin production work (the five major manufacturing processes involved are: steel plate cutting, bending, welding, painting, and assembly); coordinated the technical communication (BOM and Drawing issues) between Tianjin professionals and French team & Gaussin trailer design engineers; managed EPD employees sent to Tianjin for training.
