Raghav (Roi ) Vanga Ph. D. roi . van13@yahoo. com 610-790-5548
PROFESSIONAL AGENDA:
I am seeking a managerial, semi-managerial, Project Lead or similar position in technical fields such as
Photovoltaics, MEMS, Nanotechnology, Thin Films, Photonics, Microscopy or related fields.

WORK EXPERIENCE :

Senior Project Engineer: OpTek Systems Inc., Greenville, SC (September 2010-Current)
roi . van13@yahoo. com 610-790-5548

• Providing technical support to internal engineering team as well as external customers with
designing laser processing techniques requiring establishing laser manufacturing process for custom
fiber optic components as per the design and tolerance requirements.
• Preparing technical reports, organizing technical meetings and providing customer with project
status, timelines, and challenges.
• Leading technical team internally for the manufacture of customer fiber optic products requiring
training them with using laser processing instrumentation, optical metrology tools and quality
control measurements.
• Manufacturing custom fixtures and working with external contracting companies, ordering
required staging and automation and other fiber optic supplies required for the product
manufacture.
• Travelling to customer sites for the field installation and training the customer with Laser
processing machines.
• Addressing issues with the functionality of the machines remotely or on-site individually as well
as co-coordinating with other technical personnel through videoconferencing or other means of
exchanging information.
• Helping customers with designing experiments for timely addressing bottlenecks encountered in
their production or R&D projects.

FMA Engineer and Measurement Scientist: Corning Incorporated (April 2008-Sept. 2010)
• Identified and addressed failures occurring in the synthetic green laser package through
systematic testing and characterization techniques.
• Coordinated with an interdisciplinary team of scientist and engineers on a day to day basis to
conduct systematic experiments requiring analytical tools such as (SEM, AFM, XPS, TOF-SIMS
etc.)
• Prepared RMA, and SCAR reports and worked remotely with contractors in Asia for rapid
improvements in production
• Simulated the production conditions in the lab by building prototype experiments. This study
involved setting up fluorescence experiments with samples held in high temperature oven with
laser beam directed at the sample through lenses and turning mirrors.
• Conducted extensive market study to identify an nanometer resolution not contact microscopy
technique for in-situ measurement of surface undulations on LCD display glass sheets.

Graduate Research Assistant @ Michigan Technological University (Aug 2003- Jan 2008)
Project III: Fabrication and testing an array of freestanding piezoelectric microcantilever actuators (For
WIMS-ERC, University of Michigan)
• Developed a novel piezoelectric film fabrication process through CMP technique to fabricate
defect free 10um thick freestanding single crystal films.
• Manufactured micro-cantilevers from the piezoelectric film through a series of MEMS
processing techniques such as UV-Photolithography, RF Sputtering, and DRIE.
• Measured the response of the cantilevers using a custom setup involving white light
interferometer and voltage sources.
• Prepared and implemented standard operating procedures (SOP), collected vast amount of data,
and characterized the experimental process for reproducibility, and yield enhancement.

Led small groups of junior graduate and undergraduate students and implemented various aspects
of the projects by appropriately assigning tasks to individuals and reporting to dvisor through
documents and PowerPoint presentations.
• Designed, developed and fabricated a novel optical waveguide filtering device in a new class of
piezoelectric crystal for the first time.
• Implemented polishing, Ion-implantation, RTA, photolithography, DRIE, Focused Ion beam
technologies for the device fabrication in a cleanroom setting.
• Tested the device on an optics bench equipped with a tunable laser sources, cameras, stages and
power monitors and data acquisition tools.
• Conducted systematic experiments analyzed and documented through spreadsheets and journal
publications. This work required interacting with research advisor, other group members and
facility users to share the knowledge.
• Modeled devices through commercial packages as well as custom coding employing Ansys, RSoft,
SRIM,
FORTRAN
and
Mathematica.

Instructor/Supervisor SEM at ACMAL MTU (Aug 2007- Dec 2007)
Instructed a class of 30 graduate and senior undergraduate students on using the Scanning Electron
Microscope
