Worked in Research and Development characterizing the effects of surface treatments (ie. Ion Implantation, PVD/CVD) on the performance of materials, mainly metals. Utilized High Temperature Tribometery, Nano-Indentation, Atomic Force Microscopy, and Optical/Mechanical Profilometery to retrieve data about the structure and properties of modified surfaces. Also, Utilized Plasma Polymerization Technique to create hydrophobic thin films on Silicon surfaces.

Worked in Research and Development with Composite Materials and Aerogels. Fabricated materials and operated Instrons, among a few other machines, to test their mechanical properties. Reviewed data collected from material testing and presented findings to senior level employees. Resulted in an improved systematic approach to manufacturing composite systems of interest, as well as motivated further research in uses for Aerogels.

MIT UROP: Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies, Cambridge, MA March 2010 - May 2010
Student Researcher
Utilized Dipper equipment to create Polyelectrolyte Membrane (PEM) Films through the use of the layer by layer method. Analyzed and compared the growth two PEMs of differing polycation charges using data extracted from UV-Vis and Ellipsometry measurements. Resulted in a methodology by which to grow the linear PEM system of interest.
