PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

NORTHROP GRUMMAN, ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS, AMHERST SYSTEMS, Bethpage, NY 1995-2010

Electrical Engineer, Project Engineer, Senior Design Engineer, Test Engineer
Performed system design and configuration for Radar Simulator systems with PC based embedded processors to meet customers’ requirements. Designed Digital and Analog circuit boards using FPGAs and other complex integrated circuits for reducing cost, size, and improved performance for radar environment simulators used for testing Radar Warning Receivers. Some of the FPGA designs were for special data interfaces which had throughput timing requirements to maintain generated signal phase shift. Reduced cost by $100,000, size by 90%, while improving performance by 15% by designing newer FPGA based digital and analog circuit boards.

• Tested and integrated radar environment simulators which operated from the 0.05 GHz to 40 GHz frequency ranges.
• I wrote system as well as subsystem performance documentation that was reviewed by staff and customers. Attended and presented material at design reviews with internal staff as well as customers.
• Based on design requirements I generated parts lists, power requirements, and compliance matrixes.
• I have Design and built Test sets to improve test procedures, manufacturability, and to simplify test operations.
• I generated interim and final test documents to be used by both internal technicians and customers.
• Performed Acceptance testing with customers to validate system performance and generated test reports.
• The designs I implemented used the following data buses VME64, cPCI, Ethernet, and USB. This was to speed the system designs using standard buses. The systems all used Ethernet switches or interfacing of major subsystems.
• I have used the Xilinx ISE development environments using VHDL, ModelSim, and the Mentor Graphics DX Designer Schematic Capture tools.
• FPGA designs I worked on was for a special interface between sub-systems which provided a multiplexed data bus format which contained absolute frequency and a converted identification number which was used to select other parameters which modify the signal source.
• Updated systems to meet requirement changes submitted by customers and changes required by manufacturing.
• I have designed power supplies for transpo...
