2011 – 2012 ExxonMobil – Gas Utilization R&D Project Coordinator

Contract to ExxonMobil on the Hibernia Project to manage the investigation into enhanced oil recovery (EOR) potential for the field. This included supporting the development of a new EOR laboratory at Memorial University to study minimum miscibility pressure, core displacement testing and visualization. Developed several equation of state (EOS) models and compositionally simulated updip and downdip WAG scenarios across the field. Put together plans for pilot testing WAG in a downdip waterflood block and preliminary full field EOR development plans. Also responsible for long term gas commercialization planning.

2007 - 2011 Max-Well Petroleum Inc - Project Manager

Project Manager for industry JIP project “Advanced Well Completion Modeling and Optimization”. The goal of this R&D project is to develop a fast reservoir/well flow simulation tool that will model the completion and near-wellbore behaviour under both steady-state and transient conditions over the field life. The project is entering the commercialization phase.

2004 - 2011 APA/RPS Energy Canada Inc - Reservoir Engineering Specialist

Long-term contract to Petro-Canada/Suncor as Lead reservoir engineer for the Terra Nova Offshore Oilfield during the development phase of the project. Responsible for drilling of 27 production/injection wells and production optimization including the establishment of weekly production targets. Also responsible for PVT analysis and fluid characterization of data acquired during development drilling. Looked after slim tube experiments and EOS modeling for miscibility as well as compositional history matching (E300) of the gas flood. In charge of full flied history matching over multiple model-build cycles which included the use of MEPO (computer assisted history matching). Responsible for all reservoir engineering aspects of a reserves based Re-determination process for Terra Nova (developed and undeveloped areas) including full documentation, presentations to Expert and rebuttals.

2003 - 2004 Memorial University - Research Associate (Part Time)

1999 - 2004 Altinex Canada Inc - Principle Reservoir Engineer (Consultant)

Full time consultant to Petro-Canada’s Terra Nova project from 2001-2004. See attached project list for full listing of accomplishments.

1996 - 1999 Petro-Canada Inc - Reservoir Engineering Specialist

Lead reservoir engineer for the Terra Nova Offshore Oilfield. Responsible for the establishment of the Terra Nova design basis for field development, including displacement mechanism(s), number, location and types of wells, production capacities, design flexibility, gas balancing, and reserve estimates. As part of the design basis preparation, I worked in a multi-discipline environment to develop the critical parameters and relevant data sets for detailed facilities engineering work. Also responsible for building the detailed designs for the first six development wells and the field data acquisition program. These responsibilities involved building new reservoir/simulation models, which included sloping faults, facies modeling and stochastic property distributions, for more detailed evaluations. The new models also incorporated a new relative permeability model based on centrifuge experiments, an updated PVT model based on thermodynamic fluid compatibility analysis, stochastic sub-seismic fault distributions and results from re-interpretation of welltest data.

1995 - 1996 Petro-Canada Inc - Reservoir Engineering Specialist

Responsible for the reservoir engineering on the Valhalla oilfield in Northwestern Alberta. These responsibilities included an evaluation of early water breakthrough and its apparent directionality, through reservoir characterization and numerical modeling and history matching. The results of this work were used to determine the extent of a proposed inverted 9-spot waterflood expansion over an additional 6 sections. In addition the responsibilities included performing economic evaluations, coordination of regulatory applications, budgeting and long term strategy development, and monitoring of reservoir performance (injection targets, breakthrough performance, welltest analysis etc.)

1992 - 1995 Norsk Hydro - Senior Staff Engineer

Seconded to Norsk Hydro in Oslo, Norway for 3.5-year period, during which I was mainly responsible for the evaluation of the Brent Reservoirs in the Visund field, as part of the development appraisal (4 delineation wells) and ROC/PDO application. These responsibilities included EOS modeling and detailed compositional/black-oil simulation of dry gas cycling on a condensate rich gas reservoir, simulation of water/gas/WAG injection alternatives on a near-miscible undersaturated oil reservoir, numerical modeling of non-homogeneous welltest data, special core analysis and long core displacement testing, and stochastic parameter modeling. Also conducted a feasibility/optimization study of a proposed miscible WAG scheme for the Veslefrikk field, which included fluid characterization and EOS modeling and detailed compositional simulation of several formations. Completed a feasibility study of gas injection alternatives on the Hermod heavy oil field, including EOR (i.e. WAG, DWG) and IOR (i.e. inverse coning) techniques. Completed a field evaluation of the Shtockman Gas Field in the Barents Sea, as part of the Development Application to the Russian expert commission.

1989 - 1992 Petro-Canada Inc - Senior Staff Engineer

Responsible for the Caroline miscible WAG scheme, which included EOS modeling, miscibility evaluation and laboratory testing, detailed compositional simulation, facies evaluation and reservoir characterization and geostatistical modeling. The responsibilities also included performance monitoring (i.e. injection targets, solvent enrichment levels, solvent breakthrough and welltest analysis) and field optimization. Other duties for this area included analytical material balance evaluation of deep sour gas pools, coordination of Government applications and submissions, economics and long-term str...
