2.1 Honours (Masters) MEng Bio Materials Engineering, with Industrial Experience (see below for details of placement year) The course entails a comprehensive background in the medical science and engineering of materials for repairing or replacing damaged, diseased or missing tissues in the human body. Many of the modules studied are materials based, as the course runs in tandem with a Materials Engineering course.

July 2011-Present, Outokumpu Stainless Bar, Sales Engineer, Richburg South Carolina
• Sales Engineer specialising in products for the following sectors: nuclear, boat shafting, oil and gas and re-bar. We are currently the go-to company in the US for all of these sectors, based on quality and technical knowledge.
• Personal sales target of 7500mt/year, spread > 10%
• Co-Leader of the Focused Improvement team.
• Increasing YOY sales by 8% for bar >5”, moly sales and lean duplex grades.
• Member of the delivery performance team, tasked with improving DP from 95% within 6 months.
• Leader of the Wellness committee and employee recognition committee.

Product Sales Specialist – Long Products and Re-Bar
• Technical support for the UK sales offices regarding stainless longs and re-bar.

August 2007-July 2010. Outokumpu Stainless Ltd, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
• International graduate trainee programme. My main role was both product and process development within the technical department of a stainless steel melting and casting shop, with visits to other plants/mills across the world.
• 4 month secondment to Operations/Production. Time was spent with shift managers understanding the operations of a 450,000 tonnes/year melt-shop. Other tasks included production planning, working with logistics and despatch to ensure our delivery on time was kept at 100%.
• Extensive exposure to continuous improvement techniques. The first team lead by myself focusing on the AOD made savings of £185,000/year
• Nominated for a Performance Excellence / LEAN course that lasted 18 months. This was taught all over Europe by external consultants with modules including, LEAN flow, quality and industrial engineering. Less than 0.5% of Outokumpu employees will be nominated for this course.
• A 7 month international placement to Sweden spending time on the sites of our two biggest customers. I was tasked with understanding the demands set by down stream customers, and relay this back to the melt-shop to improve our current products including 904L, 304LCo, 254SMo, 654SMO and 17-4ph. On one site I was tasked with introducing our continuous improvement program, working closely with senior management. A basic level of Swedish was achieved during my time there.
• Business unit representative for the manufacturing of a hyper austenitic stainless steel destined for the nuclear and hydro-metallurgy industries. This involved personally developing a casting process for this individual material. No other melt shop in the world can successfully manufacture this steel. All meetings were in Swedish.
• Taking over the Senior Process Engineer role on a 7 month secondment to our bar products division in South Carolina. Time was spent on the shop floor and rolling mill understanding and improving the fundamentals of bar and wire rod production, including peeling, drawing and the rolling and heat...
