photolithography, ICP-RIE etching (hydrogen, methane, chlorine, CHF3
chemistry), magnetron sputtering (RF, DC, etching), wire bonding, rapid
thermal annealing, and vacuum system maintenance.

> Knowledge of thin film thickness / refractive index / extinction (absorption)
/ surface morphology / hardness / stress / coefficient of thermal expansion
characterization using ellipsometry, SEM, optical microscopy,
nano-indentation, surface profiler, wafer bow measurement.

> 4+ years of experience in optical simulation, including
– Monte-Carlo ray tracing method, FDTD method, transfer-matrix method, and
genetic algorithm, good exposure to LightTools and Lumerical FDTD solutions.
– Proficient in MATLAB, C++ and Labview programming language.

> Experiences of LED and solar cell efficiency characterization (I-V, L-I-V,

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
> High efficiency deep-UV, visible LEDs and solar cells June, 2011 – present
– Improved energy efficiency of phosphor-converted white LEDs by 20% utilizing
smart dichroic color filter. Simulated full LED device structure and
optimized the filter parameters in LightTools.
– Designed and demonstrated novel multilayer antireflection coatings at
deep-UV / visible / IR band for LEDs, solar cells, and LCDs, with energy
efficiency improvement of 8~34%. This work has been reported by Compound
Semiconductor magazine.
