COVER LETTER

Manager,
Human Resources

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is to express my interest in seeking a challenging and interesting engineering opportunity at your Company. An opportunity where I could apply my software design background for embedded electronics involving C/C++ and assembly programming languages, and my familiarity with the hardware components that constitute a typical embedded microprocessor operational environment. My resume is attached for your viewing and consideration. Alpha Technologies in Pittsburgh, PA most recently employed me as Firmware Engineer.

Since initiating my industrial journey in 1985, I have throughout been a software design engineer for a number of microprocessor based complex embedded electronic products. During my early career years, I designed software using assembly programming languages, and in recent years, my focus shifted to using the C programming language. As a design engineer within the development engineering departments of various companies, I routinely worked on multifaceted aspects of various electronic products’ internal software. These assignments required that I be reasonably familiar with the electronic hardware’s internal architecture/schematics, from a software developer’s perspective, while undertaking additional responsibilities such as debugging and testing of my software in a laboratory setting. Working in the laboratory environment required that I be comfortable with the use of test instruments and development tools. In some of my software related tasks, I provided current product software maintenance support such as software improvements, adding new software features, significant software test/validation activities followed by new software version releases. As may be obvious to you, I have been in a software development environment involving embedded products all these years since becoming a part of the industrial establishment. My understanding of software design concepts including particularly embedded systems forms the basis of my interest in seeking a position at your Company. I have a knack for learning new programming languages rapidly from books and instruction manuals thereby becoming productive. Furthermore, I willingly accept new assignments, which may or may not be quite structured in terms of final requirements. Consequently, given my varied engineering experience spanning complex electronic products and knowledge of product internals, I am confident your Company would find me in the best of roles if they were to offer me a challenging and interesting engineering position worthy of what I have to offer.

I look forward to meeting with the staff members of your Company for discussing a position of interest, and the relevance of my experience and qualifications to this position. For your convenience, I have provided my contact information in my resume, and I am available for telephonic and in-person interviews at reasonable notices. I am hopeful of a favorable consideration by you with regard to my interest in seeking employment at your Company, and I await your response.

Thanking you,

Sincerely,

Rashid Zia Khan
