PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Analog/Digital Electronics:
- Sensor interfacing and design for various sensor types: inclinometers, accelerometers, thermistors, LVDTs, resolvers, encoders, Hall Effect sensors (both digital and analog styles). Solid experience with analog signal processing.
- Mixed analog and digital design using discrete gates, Freescale processors, op-amps, comparators etc. Experience with SPI, I2C, RS232, RS485 buses.

Power Electronics:
- DC-DC converters for demanding applications within scientific equipment, satellites and launch vehicles. Primarily buck, flyback, boost and hybridge topologies. Solid experience with related areas such as gate drives, H-bridge, half-bridge, peak current control, average current control, compensation, magnetic theory and wound components design. Voltage ranges from a few volts to 1kV. Power ranges from a few watts to 5.5kW.
- Brushless DC motor drivers using hall sensor feedback, as well as nested current (or torque) control. Brush type motor drivers with both speed and torque control loops, along with digital control and telemetry.
- Some experience with 3-phase power conversion equipment.

Interdisciplinary:
Design and analysis of electromechanical systems incorporating computer control, servo motors with electronic drives, linkages, reducers, sensors and other system members.
Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering, force balance, moment balance, deflection, yield, load evaluation and other aspects of mechanical engineering.
Extensive knowledge of managing signal level circuitry within noisy environments using filtering, single point grounding, guard traces, isolation barriers and shielding. An example is sensor circuitry within power conversion equipment where voltages up to 1kV are switched in close proximity to the sense circuits operating at resolutions in the mV area.

Software:
Development of programming for automated control of an actuator system used in a robotics application controlling six actuators in synchrony. The code was developed in the C language. Test and qualification of assembly level DSP software for the Ariane family launch vehicle thrust vector control systems.

Laboratory and Practical:
Extensive experience with common laboratory instruments such as: oscilloscopes, gain-phase analyzers, voltage and current probes, spectrum analyzers, digital multi meters, microscopes and function generators. Design of custom laboratory equipment for test and verification: high voltage enclosure, load banks, motor-generator setups, sense circuits and more.
Proficient in common prototyping techniques including soldering of leaded and SMT parts.
