Dissertation
“Simulation-Based Optimization Models for Electricity Generation Expansion Planning Problems Considering Human Health Externalities”

This research presents an approach to solving the generation expansion planning problem that minimizes human health externalities associated with pollutant emissions from electricity generation. Human health externalities are quantified by a kriging meta-model, and the generation expansion planning problem is solved by an iterative simulation-based optimization algorithm.
