Qualified Shift Test Engineer and Shift Test Supervisor on A4W plant type, duties included:

• Maintained a practical and technical knowledge of reactor system design and operational theory to manage, direct, control, monitor, interpret and seek resolution on all matters pertaining to the effective conduct of test operations on the A4W reactor plant. Duties were primarily located in ship’s engineering spaces and control stations (EOS).
• Demonstrated expert technical knowledge of naval nuclear propulsion information through successful completion of NAVSEA 08 written examination and oral examination for the A4W reactor plant platform.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Nuclear Physics, Reactor Core design, Radiological Calculations, and Operational Restrictions.
• Analyzed reactor plant and secondary plant chemistry results and criticality data.
• Authorized reactor plant maintenance while ensuring work could be accomplished safely.
• Provided technical authority and oversight during routine and complex maintenance of reactor plant shipboard components and systems while maintaining compliance with local and corporate radiological control programs.
• Supervised personnel (ship’s crew, shipyard trades, contractors and other engineering organizations) in the accomplishment of nuclear system maintenance, operational checks and formalized test programs to verify that the reactor plant met design specifications after work completion.
• Provided technical authority and oversight required to maintain safe plant conditions during the overhaul, maintenance and testing phases of CVN availabilities.
