Project Description:
SIMS is used by all the retail divisions of TJX companies, including TJMaxx(US), Marshalls(US), Homegoods(US), TKMaxx(UK), TKMaxx(Germany), TKHomesense(Europe), Winners (Canada), Homesense(Canada), and Marshalls (Canada), to strategically control the inventory level of particular merchandize depending on its demand during the particular season. It provides the inventory details for each division as a whole, each department within the division, and to each store in the particular location. It also generates trend report of particular merchandise and ladder plan performance ranking of each store to allocate financial budget.
As a part of CTC, the infrastructure upgrade as well as technology upgrade was planned. As part this remediation effect, the ETL packages which were developed in DTS was identified to be migrated to SSIS. And also the website up gradation was planned.
Identified objects to be migrated:
1. 92 DTS packages to SSIS packages
2. SIMS main website (Classic ASP) modified to be installed on IIS 7
3. Small supporting application to the main application such as Report Viewer, Job Monitor, and SIMS Utility.
4. ESP jobs and corresponding batch script to execute the SQL jobs which in turn executes the SSIS packages.

Responsibilities:
As a solution engineer:
• Involved in interactions with the stake holders to understand the customer needs and requirements.
• Identified different components that were getting affected by the new CTC infrastructure up gradation.
• Identified the application which needs to be redesigned ‘like-to-like’ with the latest technology.
• Identified the website component containing financial data that requires additional security feature that has to be incorporated.
• Created the technical design document with the architectural diagram which includes new CTC servers that will be installed.


As a Development team lead:
• Involved in allocation of work to the offshore team and coordinated their work to complete different component of the project as per the project plan. (onsite coordinator)
• Involved in coding the web application which needs to be migrated to ASP.Net 4.0.
• Debugged the Classic ASP features that were not supported by the new IIS 7 application server.
• Deployed the developed application into the IIS 7 by integrating the newly developed ASP.Net web application along with the classic ASP web application which was left as it is in the new CTC environment.
• Involved in DTS to SSIS migration of the packages which involves recoding of the active script tasks.
• Created batch script which will be executed by the ESP scheduler jobs.
• Reviewed the developed code by offshore team and promoted it into test environment through TFS.
• Involved in defect resolution of SSIS packages as well as web application and tracked the defects through HPQC.
• Promoted the code from test environment to staging environment through Harvest after it was released by the QA team.
• Provided support for defect resolution during the UAT testing.
• Involved in designing the new CTC environment and old environment to run parallel without affecting each other.
