This position involved Visual C++ 6.0 development for embroidery applications that allow the user to create and edit designs to sew on a variety of embroidery sewing machines. Some of the work follows:

Accordion Density
Implement graphical accordion density screen to allow user to select a variation of density through length of embroidery objects. Mouse input then processed to an array of density points for stitch generation.

Trapunto Specification
Implement a feature to allow the user to specify stitch position under complex-fill embroidery objects. This feature was to make underlay stitching inconspicuous for lower densities.

Jagged Edge Specification
Implement to allow the user to apply random stitch to column embroidery objects.

Business Assistant
The business assistant involved writing a dialog that allowed embroidery shops to calculate z-time costs of sewing a design.

Lettering
Maintain version consistencies across systems of lettering to ensure desirable transformation and closest point connections amongst letters of embroidery designs. Add a feature that allows alternate letter stitch sequence across one or more lines of lettering.

Lock Stitches
Devise and implement algorithms to allow the user to globally apply lock stitches to various embroidery objects of a design and maintain the integrity of the design.

Maintained and developed performance enhancements for a Visual C++ 6.0 component in a life insurance illustration system. Three main projects are described below:

Serialization of Illustration Results
To prevent product engines from recalculating illustration results were serialized and stored as blob fields in the database. Strong interaction with other system components to ensure validity of cached results.

Component Data Values
To prevent unnecessary database access an existing component was rewritten in C++. This component cached lists of data from the database at system startup and was used system wide to provide data and business rules to other system components.

XML Import/Export
Historically the system exported illustration results by means of serialization to binary files. This data could then be imported into another system. To improve readability and portability this process was enhanced to include XML file types.

This position involved development of front-end components fro a new large scale printer system in Visual C++ 5.0. Some of the work follows:

Text Stamp Editor
Developed a single document interface application that saved files containing attributes of text stamps. This data consisted of font attributes and symbolic text such as cost center and company name. At rasterization this data was used to form a stamp for a plot file.

Administration Application
This application served as an interface to the system database. Lists of components such as printers and scanners and their attributes could be viewed and edited. The user could generate various reports from this data.

RCH file
This component parsed persistent files that contained binary plot data and associated attributes. These attributes consisted at the plot member and plot set level. This data was then put into remote command header specification and saved to a file that the printer could interpret.

Print Driver
A print driver was built in the DDK environment to enable network printing. This component was a modified version of the WinPrint DLL, altered to route plot files of the system directory.
