OBJECTIVE
I am a doctoral graduate seeking a research position in biomedical engineering. My experience and background would make me an excellent candidate for medical device development and neural devices in particular, as I have accumulated over eight years of published work in many aspects of neural device engineering and neural trauma, including glial inflammatory response, electrode engineering and performance characterization, neural recording, and neuro-regenerative therapy. I have experience in the selection, evaluation, and implantation of the most common cortical neural interface designs, and have further experience in both EEG and scalp electronic concussion detection.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
University of Pittsburgh, Department of Bioengineering 7/2006 – present
• Investigating the bench top and chronic in vivo performance of MWCNT and PEDOT-coated microwire recording electrodes, in terms of impedance, recording capability, and tissue response
• Led a project with the goal of developing a novel EEG electrode material
• Work resulted in a first-authored published paper and a patent application
• Mentored undergraduate and junior graduate researchers in experimental technique and design

University of Florida, Department of Bioengineering 5/2005 – 6/2006
• Investigated the material stability of chronically implanted microwires in rat CNS, the results of which were published in a journal paper

University of Florida School of Medicine, Department of Pathology 1/2004 – 8/2005
• Developed and evaluated morphometric methods to study morphology in rat peripheral nerve

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
CerebroScope, Pittsburgh, PA 11/2013 – present
Co-founder
• Founded with several colleagues to develop a portable electronic concussion detection device. I co-invented the technology, and we have filed a provisional patent application
