ACADEMIC PROJECTS (Arizona State University)
Applied Project – “Investigation on various parts and systems needed for solar thermal power plant” Spring 2013
• Evaluated the several concepts of three major subsystems of the power plant such as the heat transfer fluid, thermal storage, and the power block.
• Successfully demonstrated two-tank storage system where the heat transfer fluid also serves as a medium for storage system as the most advanced thermal energy storage concept.
• Conducted cost analyses to evaluate the economic value of parabolic trough and molten salt power troughs using NREL’s Solar Advisor Model (SAM) in US market.
• Concluded that solar energy industry could become one of the leading dynamic, innovative business in the coming decades unlocking a new era of technologies for environment acceptable economic growth in the USA.

Renewable Energy System – “Potential Technologies to revolutionize wind industry’’ Spring 2012
• Researched different designs for wind turbines - Wind Energizer, Vindicator Laser System, SpiDAR and Jet- Turbine Engine inspired Wind to make wind energy more reliable.
• Conducted studies on ways to increase energy production and reduce variability of wind.
• Concluded that these technologies have the potential and promise to take a giant leap in furthering the commercialization and the lowering of cost of wind based electricity.

Energy System Design – “Designing of a compressed air energy storage system’’ Spring 2012
• Design of 75kW Compressed Air Energy Storage System for Peak Load Demands
• Optimized cost of plant based-on pressure ratio and turbine inlet temperature.
• Optimized recuperator effectiveness based on cost of recuperator versus solar heating system cost.
• Used teamwork approach to formulate the Cost model and Thermodynamic model

Wind Energy– “Technological and economic assessment of deep water offshore wind farms’’ Fall 2012
• Conducted studies on various existing and upcoming technologies in deep water offshore and obstacles effecting offshore wind development.
• Optimized the cost of electricity from offshore wind farms using spreadsheet models and created a job and economic development impact (JEDI) model using NREL modeling tools.
• Discussed the existing Offshore Wind Farms: Greater Gabbard ‘England’ and Horns Rev Denmark.
• Studied the Technology Trends for various offshore wind developments in the US market.
• Highlighted the various obstacles being faced by wind farm such as high cost, technology immaturity, and limited resources

Microelectronic Packaging –“Comparison of wire bonding and flip chip inter connect technologies” Fall 2012
• Compared wire bonding and flip chip inter connect technologies in an IC chip for reliability, mechanical and electrical interconnects needed for thermal and packaging advantages.
• Discussed the impact of electro migration (EM) and thermo migration (TM) due to current crowding and Joules heating, on the solder joint fatigue life for Pb-free flip chip interconnect technology
• Assessed the mechanical, electrical, and thermal advantages of Cu-Al wiring, while pointing out the various challenges, such as higher failure rate, bad inter-metallic compound (IMC) formation, and lower anti-oxidation characteristics.
• Analyzed the effect of Cu under-bump thickness on current crowding and IMCs formation.

Design of Engineering Experiment - “Study of most effective basketball shot’’ Fall 2012
• Conducted basketball shot experiments for 5 different players using distance, shot type and the use of jump as the factors in analyzing the significance of each factor influencing the accuracy of a basketball shot and provided suggestions using ANOVA and design of engineering experiment software.
• Recommended the combination of factors using statistical analysis.
.
