2011 – 2014 Engineering Manager Foodservice Supermarket / Pactiv, Lake Forest, IL Managed and developed new products from concept to production in the Supermarket area utilizing existing and new technology. Identified new opportunities and supported sales and marketing in enhancing existing product line and product performance.

Job Duties: Store walks and in-store evaluations to identify known and unknown customer requirements. Initiating and performing product audits and testing through the life cycle of products. (Manufacture, Transportation, Storage and Usage). Project Scope definition for new products. Weekly project update presentations to Upper management Business Team. Managed two senior product design engineers.

Accomplishments: Developed and improved functionality of cup cake containers and vented deli program for a major supermarket retailer estimated over $2.5M. Developed features on Stock lunch tray items that improve strength by over 25%. Worked with a major supermarket on a vented Deli program and secured $4M dollars worth of indirect packaging business. Developed two hinge lid containers to be utilized in the Bakery processor environment for a major national supermarket retailer. Developed and commercialized new products for; Ahold, Costco, Dawn Foods, Harris Teeter, HEB, Kroger, Publix, Rich's Foods, Target. Wegmans, Wal-Mart, Sam's and others.

2010 – 2011 Venture Manager for Consumer Products / Pactiv, Vernon Hills, IL Managed the development of new products as they relate to new platforms and materials from concept to production for large consumer processor companies that include: Kraft, Heinz and Kellogg’s.

Job Duties: Leading brain storming sessions; developing manufacturing costs and requirements; representing the “voice of the customer”. Responsible for developing initial product specs and supporting product implementation.

Accomplishments: Developed and commercialized "Tiered" cup cake container for a major supermarket chain.

2007 – 2010 Engineering Manager Foodservice Supermarket / Pactiv, Vernon Hills, IL Managed and developed new products from concept to production in the Supermarket arena. Identified new opportunities and supported sales and marketing in enhancing existing product line and product performance.

Job Duties: Store walks and in-store evaluations to identify known and unknown customer requirements. Initiating and performing product audits and testing through the life cycle of products (Manufacture, Transportation, Storage and Usage of New Products). Managed three engineers. Responsible for new product specs and process start up support.

Accomplishments: Developed and improved leak resistance and load capacity for the chicken roaster container ($11M in sales). Commercialized eleven items in 2008; Developed “EarthChoice” mineral filled product line valued at$ 5.3M to compete in the Asian markets to support customer Sustainability initiatives. Developed and commercialized patented “EarthChoice” pie container for Costco which won two packaging awards in 2010 including the Food Packaging Innovation Award. Co-Developed and patented Tamper Evident PETE/Aluminum container for Costco.

2005 – 2007 Manufacturing Engineering Manager / Pactiv, Vernon Hills, IL Led process development and support for the commercialization of new products and processes in thermoforming and extrusion operations for four manufacturing facilities and multiple material substrates such as PS Foam, OPS and PETE.

Job Duties: Managed four direct reports and was responsible for career development and job performance evaluations. Responsible for $1M of project capital spending.

Accomplishments: Identified equipment upgrades and increased PETE Thermo former output in plant by 25%; Managed the development of a counting system to save $200,000 per yr in miscounted parts. Commercialized multiple new products (Wendy’s salad bowl and Burger King Platter) valued at $20M in sales.

2004 – 2005 Product Development Manager / Pactiv, Vernon Hills, IL Led a group of four product development specialist (two engineers, one product researcher and an industrial designer) in the development of new products in Foodservice and Consumer packaging.

Job Duties: Store walks and in home ethnography studies; initiating brain storming secessions; employee development and job performance evaluations. Monthly project update presentations to Upper management Business Team.

Accomplishments: Worked on a team to develop product development Stage-gate process to improve communication, reduction of errors and speed to market.

2000 – 2004 Process and Product Development Leader / Pactiv, Canandaigua, NY Led Product Development and commercialization for Polystyrene Foam and Mineral Filled Polypropylene product lines.
