PROJECTS

REAL-TIME FACE PROCESSING SYSTEM USING CUDA ENABLED GPU
Florida Institute of Technology, FL Sep 2014 – Dec 2014
• Developed a GPU accelerated real-time and robust face processing system that does face detection and tracking. Face detection is done by adapting the Viola and Jones algorithm that is based on the Adaboost learning system.
• Face is detected by resizing of the original image into a pyramid of images at different scales, calculating the integral images for fast feature evaluation and detecting faces using a cascade of classifiers. Each of these tasks is parallelized and run as kernels on the GPU.
• For robust tracking of faces across real-life illumination conditions, we hold the algorithm proposed by Thota and others, that combines the strengths of Adaboost and an image based parametric illumination model.
• Designed and developed optimized parallel implementations of these algorithms on graphics processors using the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA), a C-based programming model from NVIDIA.
• We evaluate our face processing system using both static image databases as well as using live frames captured from a fire wire camera under realistic conditions.
• Implemented faster face detection system with high accuracy in real-time systems and improving the system performance by reducing the latency for training.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF DOUBLE WINDING SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR
Sri Krishna college of Engineering and Technology Oct 2011 - March 2012

• Analyzed the characteristics of double winding induction motor and synchronous reluctance motor.
• Designed, Fabricated and tested a 3kW, 415 V, 1500 rpm double winding synchronous motor aiming for higher efficiency.
• Dependency on separate excitation for field winding is completely eliminated in this model.

MACHINE MONITORING USING EMBEDDED SYSTEMS July 2010 – Sep 2010
Sri Krishna college of Engineering and Technology

• Controlled and monitored various parameters of the industrial running equipment to improve the efficiency. The parameters include voltage, temperature, speed and time period of running of the equipment
• Industrial running equipment works continuously for hours which may lead to low efficiency and affect the mechanical system. In the project, embedded system programming is used in order to avoid low efficiency.

• Cut-off temperature is set for the running equipment, if the temperature exceeds the cut-off temperature, the machine automatically stops and when the temperature comes down to cut-off temperature the equipment automatically starts functioning which improves efficiency as well as the life time of the equipment.
