ACADEMIC PROJECTS:
PECS: Piezoelectric Carpet System: Bristol, RI; August 2014-July 2015
-Entered the Airport Cooperative Research Program design competition with
three other team members as part of RWU’s Senior Design course.
-Sponsored by the FAA, this competition requires both the identification of
and solution to a problem facing airports.
-Designed, fabricated, and tested a piezoelectric based energy harvesting
system that transforms the power of the human footstep into usable
electrical energy that can power lights in airport jet bridges.

ACRP Design Competition First Place Winner: Washington D.C.; July 2015
-Generated and submitted an extensive PECS design analysis and report to the
national ACRP Design Competition for Universities, which was awarded first
prize.
-Traveled to Washington D.C. to receive award and present report at the
awards ceremony.

ACC Luncheon Keynote Speaker: Washington D.C.; July 2015
-Presented PECS design and report at the annual ACC Airports Technical
Workshop to FAA executives and engineering professionals as part of the
first place prize.

RWU Mechatronics: Bristol, RI; August 2014-Present
-Designed, fabricated, and programmed a small autonomous robot with one
other team member.
-Robot had to conform to several design constraints, including overall
dimensions and materials used.
-Programmed with Arduino Uno in C/C+ language.
-Final design goal was to acquire, sort, and dispense colored balls located
in a defined playfield in a set amount of time.
