RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, PA
Research Assistant Aug 2012-Present
Surfactant-Assisted Transport of Drops/Aerosols on Liquid Films with Application to Pulmonary Drug Delivery
• Developed novel self-dispersing drug carriers for pulmonary drug delivery by surfactant-mediated transport
• Determined the mechanism controlling surfactant spreading dynamics and spreading of surfactant-laden drops/aerosols on liquid films to maximize post-deposition transport
• Identified and probed key parameters governing solid particle transport by surfactants to enhance spreading
• Demonstrated in vitro that surfactants drive aerosols to distances relevant in pulmonary drug delivery
• Analyzed aerosol spreading results to determine the optimal surfactant candidate with maximum spreading properties; Preliminary animal studies by collaborators (based on our findings) show significantly enhanced spreading in lungs

Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, PA
Research Assistant Dec 2010-Dec 2011
Wetting Characteristics of Pure Surfactant and Surfactant Solution Drops on Liquid films
• Demonstrated quantitatively the mechanism of “autophobing“ on liquid films with application to film coating technology
• Applied this mechanism to engineer thin liquid films to control wettability of liquid surface

Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd. Suwon, South Korea
April-June 2012
Intern; Assistant Engineer, Advanced R&D Department, Home Appliance Division
• Contributed in technical design & validation of sterilization, deodorization technologies in refrigerators & dishwashers
• Analyzed Indian consumer data to determine potential market expansion opportunities for washing machines

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. Gurgaon, India
Assistant Systems Engineer 2008-2010
• Evaluated functionality of application software developed for CVS pharmacy by implementing black box technique
• Drafted business documents/test cases for validating software functioning
• Awarded highest rating ‘A’ for excellent performance in project, 2010
